Although the house has traditional proportions and roofline, the elevated design includes state-of-the-art materials and systems, such as Steel Structural Insulated Panels (Oceansafe SSIPs - link) for an extremely durable and “tight” building envelope. All other materials were sourced sustainably, including the reclaimed cypress for the exposed beams of the front porch and the reclaimed oak floors. The house has a solar hot water system, which provides heat for the backyard pool, and a highly efficient heating and air conditioning system, which operates on only 2 tons despite the home’s generous footprint and 11-foot ceilings.
